  • Rahul Kumar, grade 10, "Radial Flowers," digital print, 13x9 in. Students were asked to create a radial piece of artwork using their own photos, then copying, pasting, reflecting, and flipping them in Photoshop. Subsequent editing and refining is experimented with to create a symmetrical image. Rahul's use of sparse imagery in black and white has created an image evocative of a beautiful drawing in subtle grey tones.

Molly waited for some layers to dry before applying new color. Here, we see distance in Molly's work as the background appears misty which is very realistic and almost looks photographic.

  • Grace O'Donnell, grade 12, "Mary A La Mode," mixed media, 18x14 in. In this thoughtful portrait, Grace considers the elevation of fashion icons to false idols in contemporary society. She uses ink to gently stipple the face of a haloed woman and then engulfs her in a sea of swirling logos.
