  • Mosbah Tayara, grade 10, "Green Day," digital print, 13x19 in. Students were asked to create an original design for an unmade album of music by an artist. By combining their own photos and artwork (even the lettering was done by hand) through the tools in Photoshop and Illustrator, students explore the art of the album cover. Mosbah's work presents an original and cohesive use of the language of graphic design through his use of layering original imagery, vector-based drawing, and textural overlays.

  • Brooke Bean, grade 3, "Relief Sculpture," crayon & glue on paper, 9x12 in. Brooke used analogous colors, or colors next to each other on the wheel, to help create her sculpture. After carefully coloring both sides of her paper, Brooke cut, folded, frayed, twisted, and curled her paper. She then carefully arranged and attached each of her pieces to a base paper to make her relief sculpture. I'm so proud of Brooke for her beautiful work. This project took time and patience. It's evident Brooke took her time to create such a well crafted piece.

  • Owen McEntee, grade 8, "Biker in Birch Trees," colored pencil & pen, 20x16 in. 8th grade students studied the figure and proportions. Later on, they created movement in figure drawing. Owen decided to create a figure on a bike running through the birch trees. The hint of light between the trees creates an additional interest to the viewer.
