29th Annual Juried Exhibition

A call for art was announced in the early summer resulting in over 270 pieces of art being entered into the open competition, from which Juror Nancy Deveno selected 81 paintings, drawings, prints, photographs and mixed media pieces that will comprise this years exhibition, representing the wonderfully varied works of 74 artists from Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Virginia.

There will be an artists reception on Saturday, September 30 from 7-9pm. It’s free and all are welcome.

THE JUROR: Nancy Deveno is an artist and art educator.  She studied at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, (BSAE, MSAE). She was born in Nuremberg, Germany to American parents, where imagery influenced her early work. Prior to settling in Massachusetts, Nancy resided in Colorado for 10 years. More than any other place, however, Italy has influenced her work exploring color theory in oil paintings.

In Italy, she lived in Bassano del Grappa with her husband, Richard Pagano, during a sabbatical year where she had a one-woman show; she and her husband have travelled back to Italy, visiting museums and the Venice Biennale.

Her work is in the city collection of Bassano del Grappa and Worcester, MA.

More recent influences embrace the work of Anselm Kiefer.
