Join Us as a Creative Collaborator for Zullo State-of-the-Art AR Exhibit

For a small gallery in the heart of Medfield, Mass., a big initiative is in store for the new year: a Zullo Gallery augmented reality (AR) exhibit – the first of its kind for the non-profit gallery.

As part of initial exhibit planning, and backed by a generous grant from the Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund, the Zullo is now actively recruiting artists, educators, technology professionals, students, and citizens at large who may want to play a role in this exciting initiative!

The May/June 2024 exhibit will revolve around the theme of “Travel through Time” and inspire artists to develop creative concepts that can be uniquely experienced through augmented reality using personal hand-held technology.

Highlights:

  • The project is open to artists with no prior experience in immersive media, but are eager to learn through free professional training.
  • The project is also open to artists and others already working in or familiar with AR, providing an opportunity to collaborate to create a one-of-a-kind exhibition.
  • High school and college students are especially encouraged to get involved, and will have the chance to be mentored by experienced artists, receive class credit (if applicable), or earn community service hours.
  • A limited number of stipends may be available to artists.
  • An important first step is seeking applications from creative and/or technical individuals who are interested in learning more via a Zoom information session.
  • As a follow-up step, an in-depth, in-person training workshop will be provided.
  • Acton-based augmented reality publishing and consulting firm, Hoverlay, is assisting with the Zullo project.
  • In addition to artists, volunteers are needed to help with various other aspects of the project, such as marketing, exhibit set up, hosts, etc.
