DESCRIPTION:Painting Outside – An Introduction – September-October 2021\nThursday mornings 9:30-12:30 – 5 classes\nAn In-person class! Sept 23 – Oct 21\, 2021 – on the Zullo deck (though we may choose other spots close by.) Materials: charcoal\, pencil\, paper\, oils or acrylic paint. \nIt is incredibly rewarding to distill intense and changing sensations into something only you can capture. Photographs will help us but nature provides all the inspiration. The class takes place on Zullo’s balcony/rooftop deck where we have the benefits of plein air light and subject matter along with the conveniences of a studio. It’s a good way to ease into an outdoor adventure. Our journey will stress process and growth and will cover selecting what to draw or paint\, dealing with changing light and atmosphere and the most important elements of drawing (how tall\, how wide\, at what angle) and painting (values\, simplification\, color). Some content and work may be done in the gallery (or over Zoom) if we have weather problems. \nALL LEVELS ARE WELCOME. WE WILL BUILD ON WHAT WE DID IN THE SUMMER VERSION OF THIS CLASS IN A WAY THAT WELCOMES NEWCOMERS. ON MOST DAYS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WORK LONGER THAN THE CLASS TIME INDICATES. \nthe instructor:\nRON KROUK has an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and received his BA from Brandeis University. He was also a scholarship student at the Skowhegan School for Painting and Sculpture in Maine. He has drawn and painted since childhood\, attended art classes at the Art Students League in NYC while in high school\, and studied with Michael Mazur at Brandeis where he gradually found himself moving away from art toward the field of psychology. He worked in that field for several years before returning to art school. In 2010 he retired from IBM\, returned to art\, studied with George Nick\, and is now teaching at Concord Art\, NewArt and Danforth Art. His work has been favorably reviewed by Sebastian Smee in the Boston Globe. Ron is a gifted teacher — as his many loyal students will attest. He is intrigued by the mystery of representing the three dimensional world in two dimensions and by communicating that to his students. SUMMARY:Oil Painting
DESCRIPTION:Come paint! During this comprehensive 6 week course classes will cover best practices and welcomes beginners and intermediate students. Students will be taught the ins and outs of oil painting from mixing colors to making a mark to capturing the effects of light.  Earlier classes will work on specific exercises with demonstrations from the instructor. Later in the session\, students are invited to bring in their own references or still life objects as painting subjects. Maximum students:12. \nKim Morin Weineck is an artist primarily working in pastel and oil although proficient in all fine art mediums. She concentrates on the beauty of making interpretive landscapes. She is a juried member of the Pastel Society of America (PSA) and a Signature member of her local pastel group the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod PPSCC\, Artist member of various art associations and Instructor of the Neponset Valley Artists (NVA) her active atelier. Kim has won numerous awards and her work is in collections in the US and Europe. Her work was highlighted in the Pastel Journal’s vaunted Pastel 100 issue in March 2015. A graduate with distinction from Massachusetts College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fine Art 2D\, Kim is no stranger to exhibiting her work at Zullo Gallery and has a piece in this year’s Annual Juried Show.  Kim also shows regularly at Gallery9\, Norwood\, South Street Gallery in Hingham and Palette Fine Art Gallery in Sandwich.
